Acupuncture is the practice of inserting very small needles into specific locations on the body. This method of treatment canrelieve pain and aid the natural healing process of the body. Acupuncture is often used in conjunction with traditional medical practices. This is a very safe form of therapy that should only be done by a trained and certified veterinarian. There are virtually no side effects, other than a mild sensation of pain when the needle is inserted and possibly some muscle cramping or tingling. Acupuncture can be used to treat many conditions including: musculoskeletal and neurologic disorders, skin diseases, gastro-intestinal or urinary dysfunction, as well as some eye and ear disorders.

Dr. McCartney was trained and certified in Medical Veterinary Acupuncture through Colorado State in April 2013.
